RELIGIOUS AND POPULAR CELEBRATIONS FOR THE “HOLY VIRGIN OF THE ST. ROSARY”

Festival of the Virgin of the St. Rosary (8th to 11st October 2009)

This is the most popular festival in town, with its four days of celebration. During the festival, the city centre is enriched of many lights and, at night, there are different kinds of live music in the streets.

According to the tradition, the festival starts on Thursday with the so called “Pork Festival”, when it is possible to taste local courses, like the roasted meat.

On Friday evening and Saturday morning there are the religious celebrations. The statue of the Virgin is taken on procession and all the houses keep their door opened to see her.

On Saturday evening and Sunday the festival becomes popular: the lights are all lit and music and local sellers fill the streets.
